The best of 2014 - Makeup

Hello everyone

This post is my last post of 2014, it has been an insane year and to me it has gone so fast. In this post I will be mentioning the products that for me have made 2014. This is a collection of products consisting of foundation, concealers, lipsticks, and others.

So I will be doing it in random order, starting off with what for me have been the best foundations this year. I have been really impressed by some and there have been foundations that just haven't made me think of it as the best foundation of the year. The first one I have been loving the the L'Oreal True Match foundation £9.99 this was a new discovery for me, I had seen a lot of good reviews on it so I decided to try it out for my self and it definitely is good. It says it's a true match for your skin and it honestly is, after applying it sinks into the skin so that is matches up with your skin tone which is the one of the things I love the most about this foundation. It has a medium coverage and tends to last for about 6 hours before needing to re-apply. Next up is the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation £6.99 this is a foundation that I have loved for about two years now, it is a really simple foundation that provides a light/medium coverage it tends to last for about 5 hours before needing a touch up and is all round good. Again it matches well with the skin and is a perfect foundation to use near the spring/summer time as the foundation is quite lightweight and is fairly moisturizing on the skin.

Moving onto mascara, I have tried so many mascara's this year but for me there has been really only one that has truly stood out for me and that is the L'Oreal Million Lashes mascara £10.99 I have mentioned this mascara so much but I still don't feel like I have given it all of its glory. The mascara adds a lot of volume to your lashes and doesn't flake or disappear throughout the day there is no smudging and is easy to apply and adds volume fast. I don't feel like I can fully give this enough credit as it is just that good.

Eye shadows, I haven't really tried any new eye shadows this year but there have been a few that I have been really surprised by, especially a palette by Barry M. In my brand review on Barry M I mentioned this palette which was a new discovery of mine, I am a lover of nudes and natural colors and when I saw this palette I just fell in love with the colors, it is the Barry M Natural Glow Eye and Blusher palette £6.49. The palette offers highly pigmented nude colors that blend nicely onto the eyes and can be used on their own or together to create a smokey eye. I personally use them on their own but I have tried using them to create a smokey eye and they do look nice.

Concealers, I have not been a huge person this year when it comes to concealers I have tried a couple and there have been some absolute amazing ones which I will be mentioning, first off is the all round general lover the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer £4.19 this has got to be one of the most talked about concealers from the drugstore and its because it works. It provides a good coverage that lasts for a fairly good time, it is easy to blend into the skin and isn't too creamy. The shade range is good and I have never had a problem with this concealer. So all round I love it. The second concealer is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer £5.49 I haven't mentioned this concealer in a while but it is one of the concealers I use most days, for me this is an amazing concealer to use for brightening dark circle around my eyes, it is easy to blend and goes well with foundation or by itself. This price as well is also amazing as for just under £6 you get a good brightening concealer that works well with almost any foundation.

Powders, this is too something that I haven't really tried out this year I generally tend to stick to my main products and try new ones every now and then as my skin can sometimes be funny and I like to have a sort of 'routine' for my face to handle. There have been three powders that have really stood out for me this year. Firstly the Natural Collection Pressed Powder £1.99 I have been in love with this since last December but I forgot about it and caste it aside until a couple of months ago when I found it and realized how much I still loved it. The powder works well at holding my makeup in place, it isn't the best for hiding shine but at £1.99 you can't really complain. Next up is the Rimmel Match Perfection powder £5.99  this powder is the natural collection powder but improved and slightly higher priced. It helps to set makeup as well as helping to hide shine, this is definitely more of a Autumn/winter powder as it can look slightly heavy in the summer but I still love the powder to use. Lastly is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder £3.99 this is the perfect powder for summer, it is light weight and helps to reduce shine well. It isn't strong enough to be an all round powder as it doesn't create a full matte finish but for me it is the one powder I will use in the Summer.

Lastly the lips, I have been trying out quite a few more lip products this year as I wanted to broaden my horizons a bit and try out new products. I will be mentioning 2 lip products that I have been loving this past year. First off is a lipstick I only mentioned a couple of months ago but is one of the best lipsticks I have tried all year its the Topshop Lipstick Shade Naturist £8 this lipstick is one of the best ones I feel like I have ever had, it is a nude lipstick that is slightly darker than my lips which is something I have been trying to find for a long time. It is the your lips but better shade, it is moisturizing on the lips and doesn't feel drying and does not go weird throughout the day or anything. This tends to stay on for about 2-3 hours before needing to be re-applied. This can be used all year round but I have really been loving it in the Autumn and Winter as it has a slight purple undertone to it. Next is a lip gloss that I have been in love with it is the Barry M Lip Gloss Wand in Toffee £4.49 this has been an absolute lover of mine for the whole year, it is a moisturizing lip gloss that isn't too shiny on the lips and the smell wow it smells good. For the price you get a lot it doesn't tend to last long but does look incredible on top of lipstick.

So this has been a very long post, I have enjoyed sharing with you my favorite products from this year, I hope you have enjoyed this post and on Friday I will be doing the 40 Beauty questions tag
