Best Spots in Manchester for a Good Old Drink

I'm surprised I've never really covered this before, but in the past year I've ventured out a bit and gone around town looking for the best places for a drink, from cocktails to ciders there's a range of places across Manchester that deserve a bit of a spotlight. I like a mixture of drinks and there's nothing worse than going to a new bar and choosing the same drink you have everywhere else, I like to try something different each time. So if you're looking for a new place to grab a drink take note of where am about to mention, from the Northern Quarter to Spinningfields.

First up, is Jimmy's if you're into the more indie scene of Manchester this is a great place to check out. They have a great range of cocktails, great music that you can't miss and they house a lot of gigs around the year. Some of my best gigs from the past year have been at Jimmy's and it's somewhere you really can't miss. It's a bit different to the rest on the lis…

January Favorites - Fashion

Now I have become a lot more in love with fashion over the past few months. I have started to care more about how I look. Especially finding the clothes that really suit my figure.

Through January I have been in the sales, on Asos and plenty of other places and have managed to get some clothing I really love. So I thought it would be good to share with you a few pieces I have been loving through January.
First up is a skirt, now it is no surprise that I own another skirt. That may be 9 or 10 now. But this one is a green button up a line skirt. I will admit that I don't normally go for green but the fit of this skirt and when paired with a turtleneck really does look good. Plus the skirt has pockets which to me is an essential with a lot of skirts. This was £20 from Ark although I did get an extra £2 as the perks of being a student.

I've also fell in love with a pair of shoes. No surprise there, a few months back I was raving about my t bar style shoes that I had bought and aft…

January Favorites - Makeup and Skincare

Through this month I have been testing out a number of products. From using some of the makeup I got for Christmas to spending some of my left over Christmas money. There have been plenty of favorites this month.
Because I have so many I am breaking this up into two separate posts. This is my January makeup and skincare favorites the next post will be my Fashion Favorites.
Kicking off this post is a a moisturising gel I have been loving. J recently reviewed the InstaNaturals Aloe Vera Gel and this has been one of the best products for my skin. I am currently battling some spots at the moment but applying a bit of the gel all over the face everynight has helped to really calm down my skin. A lot of redness has been reduced making my face a lot more managable.

Next up is a concealer, after hearing so many people rave about this I knew I finally had to give it a go. This is the first high end concealer I have actually tried. This is the Urban Decay Naked Concealer in Light warm. I will b…

The All Round Plaid Top

With there being this awkward transition into Spring from Winter where everything has suddenly now got colder. I have tried to find pieces that work in either weathers. I wanted to find a top that I could wear with most things and be able to wear in Spring and Winter. My usual style is normally dark, i'm not a huge fan of pastels on me so it was no surprise when I picked up this navy and green plaid shirt. I find that I can wear this on its own and it still keeps me warm, or if it is one of those morning where it's a little too cold I can always wear a turtleneck or some kind of t shirt underneath as layering. It is the perfect top to wear as it gives off this casual but not lazy look. And if I have just thrown this on 5 minutes before having to head out of the door if it could at least make me look ready. That would be a blessing. I also have this in a pink/ and navy meaning I can switch them up between days. And considering this was only £9.99 from Select you can't really…

The Stay Perfect Foundation Review

I have never really used No7 before, I always felt like their products just didn't have that wow factor I wanted. But after hearing about so many of their products that have really hit in the makeup world. I decided to try out one of their foundations.

As I want quite a full coverage, stay on all day foundation. I was recommended to try the Stay Perfect foundation in the shade Calico. This was matched for me which was such a big help as I often struggle sometimes finding the right shade that suits my skin well.

This has a medium to full coverage, I have acne scarring that does get covered quite well with this foundation. I do have to apply concealer on over this but I normally do with most foundations anyway.

In terms of lasting power this doesn't have a 24 hour wear but I have worn this from around 7 in the morning to 8 at night, almost 12 hour. And it has stayed nicely on my skin. I did have to touch it up half way through the day but seeing as I was at college and then at w…

The Aloe Vera Moisturizer Hit?

Instanaturals has become one of my favorite skincare brands over the past few months. After loving their spot gel as well as trying out their mud mask and eye cream. It was no surprise that I jumped at the chance to try their new Aloe Vera based gel that you can use as a cooling moisturizer.

Aloe vera became a huge hit in 2015, from drinking it to putting it in your hair. It was used in everything. It is most commonly known for the skincare benefits, from spots to sunburn this can cool your skin helping to reduce redness as well as any puffy eyes.

I have not been taking the best care for my skin recently, since having many late nights spent revising or at work I have really abandoned my routine. My skin just lost that fresh and healthy look to it and I was getting more spots than ever before.

So this moisturiser stepped in at the right time, my face was just red everywhere. Spots out of this world. And after three weeks my skin is on the mend. I normally apply this mainly at night as …

Battle of the cleansers

It's no secret that I love my Garnier Micellar Water. This cleanser helps to remove my makeup, leaving my skin feel nice and clean. But I am always after that alternative as although you get a lot for the price. I want alternatives incase I ever dislike it.

So after testing cleanser after cleanser I have drawn out two that are pretty close contenders. First up is the Nivea 3 in 1 Sensitive Clearing Micellar Water. This aims to remove makeup leaving your skin feeling clean as well as claiming to help reduce redness and tiredness in the face. Now for a cleanser they are pretty big claims. For me I haven't seen any differences with my skin but this does help to effectively take off all my makeup. I perfonally prefer to use this mainly for eye makeup as it with it being a sensitive treatment it doesn't irritate my eyes. Compared to my Garnier one I would definitely prefer to use this for removing eye makeup. But the Garnier one reigns supreme with removing my face makeup. Pric…

Brand Review - Makeup Revolution

Over the past few months, my obsession with Makeup revolution has been growing and growing. I have just fell in love with so many of their products. From the quality to the price there are some real winners in the brand. And some that for me just don't work. I wanted to share 2 of my loves, one of which I have featured before. And one that I feel like I need to briefly go over.

Starting with the straight up no is their Matte Effect Foundation. I picked this up on a whim as it was only £2. The packaging is cheap looking which is disappointing compared to the rest of their products, it lets too much out at a time meaning I was wasting so much of it before I had barely tested it. The finish that it left was just cakey, it didn't look like my skin at all. It was as if someone had just threw paint on me. I don't want to dwell on about this because as a brand they have some real winners, they just really need to stay away from the foundation side of makeup.

So starting now with …

New Look - Lip Collection Review

I have noticed since getting a makeup organizer which has been one of the best Christmas presents I got this year. My lip collection has been just growing and growing. I have started to venture out more, discovering new brands and building my collection even more.

Now I am normally a sucker for makeup from clothing brands such as Topshop and H&M. So it was no surprise when New Look brought their makeup range out that I just had to pick up a few things. One of the first things I picked up was one of their gift sets, priced at £7.99 it included a lipstick, lip liner, and lipgloss. £7.99 for all that doesn't sound too bad.

I am not normally a fan of lipglosses so I will be saving that one for a friend however the lipstick and lip liner are mine to keep. The lipstick in Mink (23) is this gorgeous dark almost nude pink shade. When applied onto my lips this creates a your lips but better look.

I always like to complete my lips with a lip liner, the one that they included in the set was…

Makeup in 2015 - The Good, The Kinda Bad, And The Just Plain Wrong

Hello everyone, I hope that 2016 has already been the start of a good new year for you all. As we have said goodbye to 2015 I wanted to summarise the year within makeup. Showing you the products I've loved and want to take into 2016 and the products that I will be leaving behind.

Starting off on a positive is a foundation you won't be surprised to see. It is the L'Oreal Infalliable Matte Foundation. This has become my top drugstore foundation, with that matte finish which for someone with oily skin like me is a must. This helps to create a flawless and smooth finish to the face. For £7.99 this is the perfect foundation for anyone who wants a flawless matte coverage.

Pulling one out of the bin, this is a product I won't be taking into 2016. This is the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the shade Nude Attitude. Now the formula great, matte finish great, the shade itself - horrible. The packaging suggets this is going to be a peachy pink which I thought after I ordered th…
