Olay Total Effect 7 in 1 Moisturiser And Serum Review

Image
Olay has never been a brand I have really gone for, they are known for their skincare but with their target market being for older women and men they me. I always felt a little out of my depth trying their products. But after seeing that one of their new moisturisers was on offer I thought I might as well try it and see what it does to my skin.

This moisturiser has spf 20 and helps to moisturise the skin and prevent ageing of the skin. I don't have an issue with ageing skin at the moment but I do tend to have dry skin every now and then. It recommends to apply this liberally to your face and neck. I have been using this for a month and a half now and have gathered my opinion on this.

In terms of whether my face feels moisturised the feeling does last all day up until the next morning when I need to use it again. I use this at night and in the morning to make sure my face stays moisturised. However, this does take a while to sink into the skin so I try to apply this as early as pos…

The Power Of Makeup To Me

Image
Recently the power of makeup has become the biggest debate to occur in the world of makeup. Youtubers, bloggers, instagrammers have been sharing the transformation makeup has on our faces. We can go from looking dull and spotty to looking glowy and flawless. We all have our reasons for wearing makeup and after thinking about it for a long time. I decided to share why I wear makeup.

There's two reasons, firstly my self confidence is boosted an awful lot by wearing makeup. All my imperfections on my face that I don't feel the best about are hidden. It almost becomes infectious to be able to mask our imperfections and show off this flawless version of ourselves.

I have been wearing makeup since I was about 13, I noticed all the popular girls had started wearing it and always got complimented. As someone who was always compared to the popular girls I saw makeup as a way of fitting in and being with them. Within days of wearing it they started to compliment me and I felt like I was…

Body Shop Honey and Oat 3 in 1 Moisturising Scrub Mask Review

Image
I normally go to the Body Shop around Christmas time. Picking up a few of their Christmas bundles and then back again the year later. But after getting an email about some of their offers I ended up picking up a few things. Including this the Body Shop Honey and Oat 3 in 1 Moisturising Scrub Mask.
The honey works to nourish and soften the skin whilst the oats gently polish your skin getting it back into it's top condition. It is recommended to use this 2 to 3 times a week applying a generous layer for about 10 minutes.

I will admit here it doesn't smell the nicest. It has almost an apple scent to it with the oats mixed in to it. In terms of how it actually feels on the skin it definitely has that exfoliator scrub feel. Definitely apply a thin layer of this as it does come out quite thick due to all the oats that are in this.
After leaving this on for 10 minutes my skin feels clean however I always felt that it made my skin feel heavy. Like I needed another mask to remove the r…

Life Update - University

Image
I have never really explained on my blog much about my personal life. Why I have breaks for a month or why my posts are up a day late. Currently I am preparing my stuff and myself for University. As I will be studying Psychology at the University of Manchester this September.
As I just picked up my results on Thursday (18th) the past couple of days have been a whirlwind of emotions. Let's go back to 2 years ago where this all sort of began.
So 2 years ago I started sixth form college, everything was going well and I was getting A's in my subjects and Distinctions in my Subsidiary diploma course. I had some family problems along the way but I did my As exams and came out with 2 B's a D and then Distinction * for my subsidiary diploma. And this was when I had to really think about what I wanted to do. Psychology had always been the one subject I couldn't learn enough of, from the first class to the last I was always interested. But this was the same for Law too. My decis…

Benefit Gimme Brow - First Impressions

Image
A couple of weeks ago I shared my opinion on the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil from their new Eyebrow range. After being pretty impressed with that I decided to see if I could try anymore of their products from the line. I managed to pick up a sample size of the Benefit Gimme Brow in the shade 5 which I will say now is a little darker than I needed.

This volumizing brow gel with it's microfibres helps to turn thin skimpy looking brows into fuller looking beautiful brows. This is meant to be water resistant and long wearing. To use this you simply brush this through your brows getting the shape of them you want. I will warn you here that if you try to do it in stages that won't work. As it can build up and get crispy. Yes crispy.

First off the packagaing is adorable, Benefit are known for their creative and almost vintage looking packaging which I honestly love. In terms of practicality this can stand up perfectly meaning it doesn't have to just laid down in your makeup dr…

Finding Your Perfect Red

Image
Red lipstick seems to be that staple piece in a lot of people's makeup kits. It can make a simple natural looking face go to more formal within seconds. I personally don't tend to wear a bright red shade that often. I go for more darker shades of red as they are closer to my personal style. I decided that I would share with you my 4 perfect red shades that vary from being bang on bright red to being a little darker. The majority of these except for one are drugstore so they are easy enough to buy and get your hands on.

Starting with the bright red lips, the one I tend to use for when I'm maybe going out for the night or just want something a bit bright on my lips than my normal lipsticks is the Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in the shade Ruby Tuesday 715. This does swatch as a fairly pink shade but when applied on your lips this goes as a bright pure red. This is brighter than that standard red shade. This tends to dry down semi matte as it still maintains a slight bit …

L'Oreal Clay Multi-masking First Impressions

Image
L'Oreal just recently launched their new face mask range. I have never really tried any skincare products from them. The idea of having 3 different clay masks to target different areas of your face is brilliant. Whilst they were all on offer at Boots for £5 I decided to pick them up and give them a try.

Multi-masking if you have never heard about it involves you applying different face masks to the areas of your face where it needs to go most. Rather than wasting product and applying it in areas where it isn't needed.

The range has 3 types of face masks, first off we have the Purity mask, aiming to purify and mattify your face. This being aimed at oily skin types which was a prayer from above for me. I tend to have an awful lot of oil resting on my forehead and my chin at the moment. I applied a thin layer of this over my forehead and then chin. Gave it 10 minutes whilst I applied the other masks and after washing it off I noticed that some of the oil was gone. I wouldn't …

July Favorites - Makeup, Skincare, Pampering, and a New read

Image
This year seems to be going by quicker and quicker each month. It feels a weird to say that just almost 2 months ago I finished college fully and now the agonizing days count down to results day. July was a crazy busy month for me, through organizing stuff for University and work and going on holiday for 10 days. I have had a few staple pieces I have kept with me through the past month.

In terms of makeup, you probably already know about my growing collection of the NYX liquid suedes. I only had 3 and decided I wanted one more for now. I have always struggled to find a mauve shade that isn't too brown for me and leaves that matteish look. And well NYX got me covered for the finish and color. I picked up the shade Sandstorm and is it this beautiful nude mauve shade. I find this is quite natural but has the added bit of color that helps to spice up my face up a little bit. I will link here my full review of the liquid suedes before I ramble on for ages about it.

For skincare I have …

Why You Need To Add Jojoba Oil To Your Routine

Image
Oils have always been a product that I've loved the idea of using and could only ever imagine how luxurious and amazing they must feel to apply onto the skin. My main issue with oils was the fear of making my already fairly oily skin resemble a frying pan's worth of oil on my face. I was hesitant that I may apply too much and create that nightmare.

But after I tried the Sanctuary serum oil that I was only drawn in by the scent. I decided to break out and adventure into a few more face oils. I wanted something new, something that hadn't been raved about yet. And it's the Eden Semilla 100% Pure Organic Jojoba Oil.

In terms of the brand if you have never heard of them before. They are ran mainly online, selling worldwide. The brand was originally formed in America last year and after the launch of their fast selling Rosehip oil they decided to come back with a new product the Jojoba oil and are planning on a new line very soon.

The oil can be used on your hair, skin, and …
