Birchbox 3 Months On

Image
Subscription boxes are a weird niche, they're a nice little pick me up each month tailored to you. For me, I've always wanted to try these and for the past three months, I've been subscribed to Birchbox. Each month I've received a bunch of products and I've given my verdict on them. I thought I would review the whole service after three months of purchasing and share my loves from the boxes and the ones you could definitely miss out on.

The boxes overall have been good, there hasn't been any in which I haven't been disappointed. The service offers boxes tailored to you, after filling out a quick questionnaire it helps to tailor the products to you. What I've found throughout the boxes is it's normally 1 or 2 products that you will receive that might be different to what other people receive. This means there isn't that much personalisation around the box and what you get.

However, I feel like the products in there, for the most part, are tailore…

Everyday Makeup Essentials

It's been a while since I sat down and shared with you the products I use everyday when I do my makeup. If you follow my Instagram I am always sharing the products I used that day so I thought I would breakdown some of my most used products on here that I use almost on a day to day basis.

We'll start from the first product and work our way up.  For a base I love using the L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer £7.99. This sets really quickly and stops my makeup from sliding about during the day. Once this has set I apply my foundation. For foundation I am still staying with my Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation £29 . I love using this foundation because the coverage is amazing, it mattifies quickly and lasts all day for me. Moving onto concealer I am still loving the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer £19. This is a lightweight creamy concealer that helps to conceal my undereyes and any blemishes.

After I have blended out my concealer and foundation with a beauty blender I take a little bit of banana powder and lightly brush this under my eyes. This helps to brighten up the eye area a little bit, then moving onto a translucent powder for the rest of my face. On a day to day basis I don't tend to bake, but if I am going on a night out or need my makeup to be pristine all day then I will bake under my eyes and at the contours of my face. Once this is done I move onto contouring.

I am not a massive fan of the visible contour so I take the Bourjour Mat Illusion Bronzing Powder £7.99 using an angled contour and blush brush and sweep this around the side of my face where my cheekbones are. It gives the illusion of a contour but it avoids that harsh line a lot of people have. I take this bronzer around the rest of my face, focusing on my forehead. Then it's the exciting time, highlighting.

I am loving using the Makeup Revolution Vivid Brights Highlighter in Golden Lights £3. Using the same brush I used for contour I brush this across my cheek bone and also a little bit on the nose. It helps to add a little glow to my nose which if you do right can work really well.

After highlighting I apply my eyeshadow base, because it is a creme base I like to give it enough time to dry down before I move onto my eyes. For an eye base I am using the Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo Matte Eyeshadow in Creme de Rose £4.99. This is a great base colour for me, I apply a little of this with my finger over the lid and move onto my brows whilst it sets. For brows I use the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette. I tend to focus towards the sides of my brows creating definition and then moving towards the front of my brow, creating little hairs and blending this all out using a spoole. Then to set my brows I use the Maybelline Clear Brow Gel to stop them from moving throughout the day.

Moving back onto my eyes, I have loved using the Zoeva Nude Spectrum Palette £28.50. For everyday I tend to use the darker tan shade in the palette in the crease, blending this out using a fluffy brush from Makeup Revolution. And then using one of the shimmer shades on the first row in the inner corner of my eye to brighten the eye up. Taking a smaller eyeshadow brush I blend a little bit of the tan shade onto my waterline, letting it just slightly go onto my lower lash line. Making sure it is fully blended out.  I love using warm shades during the day for a natural everyday look. I have recently been doing a few makeup looks without eyeliner but on the days when I do use eyeliner I use the Soap and Glory Supercat Liner £6. This is a great thin black eyeliner that goes on so easy, it makes it so easy to go from a delicate to dramatic wing.

Finishing off my makeup I apply the Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Black Mascara £7.99 on my top and bottom lashes and finish my full face using the Jeffree Star Liquid lipstick in Posh Spice £16. I love using this colour because it's a good mauve nude shade that works so well with my skin.

And that's it for my day to day products. I do like to switch it up sometimes so comment down below any product recommendations you have for me and I might be trying them out next.

                         Until next time, Chloe!
