Best Spots in Manchester for a Good Old Drink

I'm surprised I've never really covered this before, but in the past year I've ventured out a bit and gone around town looking for the best places for a drink, from cocktails to ciders there's a range of places across Manchester that deserve a bit of a spotlight. I like a mixture of drinks and there's nothing worse than going to a new bar and choosing the same drink you have everywhere else, I like to try something different each time. So if you're looking for a new place to grab a drink take note of where am about to mention, from the Northern Quarter to Spinningfields.

First up, is Jimmy's if you're into the more indie scene of Manchester this is a great place to check out. They have a great range of cocktails, great music that you can't miss and they house a lot of gigs around the year. Some of my best gigs from the past year have been at Jimmy's and it's somewhere you really can't miss. It's a bit different to the rest on the lis…

Hair Help From Soap and Glory

Dry shampoo has become a miracle product, whether it's to freshen up your hair or just add a bit of volume to it. I don't think I'd be able to live without it now. I've tried and tested many brands but I find a common problem with a lot of them. They tend to take a while to sink in and leave that white residue that makes my hair look like it's never been dyed rather than needing to freshen up.

Soap and Glory recently came out with their own dry shampoo. The Rushower dry shampoo £4 aims to freshen up hair and leave it smelling good. You already know with Soap and Glory that your gonna get that sweet scent that lasts for a while so I was so excited to try this out. It absorbs excess oil and dirt and it claims to be invisible even for dark hair. I tested this out over the past couple of months to really see if I could get the real picture with this.

The one thing I noticed was the scent of bergamot and mandarin . It's one of the original Soap and Glory scents that y…

Lingerie let's talk about it

Lingerie has always been such a taboo topic. I remember posting a photo of a bralette I bought onto Instagram and it got so much attention just because it was lingerie. You'd think in 2017 we would be passed it but it's about time we stop being ashamed of it all. We should be comfortable and confident in lingerie, we can show it off if we want to. Hide it if we want to but we shouldn't have to be embraced or ashamed because we want to wear something for ourselves.

Lingerie has always been around and it's taken a while before we really became proud of owning it. Retailers used to shy away from promoting lingerie, and now it's the main focus of many stores. Places like Topshop and Primark have really branched out in this section. Giving us all a new lease of confidence. Shops like Boux Avenue and Ann Summers have always been around helping us out but it's about time other brands got involved.

It's funny speaking to people about this topic, most people shy aw…

Halloween Week: Makeup Looks For Less

Halloween is nearing closer and closer and it's time to get into the makeup to get you into the spirit. Whether you're going trick or treating or out for the night I've found the best places to shop to get that look right.

The main store that has been bossing it this year with the Halloween makeup is Superdrug. From that classic Pop Art to Snow Queen they offer a selection of looks. Step by Step tutorials and brands that don't break your bank they have really delivered it all this year. If you want to create your own style of look I recommend to check out Makeup Revolution. They do a massive range of makeup at budget prices. They are perfect especially if you are just practicing with makeup or if you want to get that amazing look for less. They have really stepped up this year and made Halloween a lot cheaper for everyone.

Boots have also dedicated a page just for Halloween. Featuring tutorials, brand only makeup looks and a mixture of looks to go for. My favourite loo…

Halloween Week: Outfits For Less

Halloween is coming up and I can't wait to spend the week talking through the outfits and makeup you can get for the occasion. I am a big fan of Halloween and I'm a big fan of making a real statement. You can't go to a Halloween themed thing without a costume so let's start with what Asos are offering for costumes.

If you want to go for that Morticia Adams kind of vibe without having the dress there is an amazing jumpsuit alternative by Boohoo £32. It has the plunge neckline with the 80's flare style pants to really make it an outfit. Pair this with a black wig and some grunge makeup and you're there with the look.

Incase you maybe want a more abstract outfit, there's this amazing spider web detailed dress available from Asos £28 as well. The mesh detailing is great to add a statement and paired with some heels and some spider style makeup you're on your way to being spooky for the season.
New Look also have a great selection of Halloween stuff again th…

How Instagram Is Changing The Game

The magical world of Instagram has taken the social media place by storm. Everyone's on it in one way or another. It's becoming essential as a blogger to have an Instagram and I never realised this until now. My instagram has been live since March and have posted daily with outfit posts, flatlays, and the occasional bit of food. Since creating it my blog has taken off and I have more of a following than ever before.

There's almost a goal to Instagram, what you need to do to get towards the top. Everything has to be perfect and you can't have a bad post because the whole theme just goes. What isn't so magical is the Instagram Algorithm which you've probably heard nothing but bad about.

The minute Instagram changed the viewing order to random photos rather than chronological order ruined every chance to get your post featured. I would be liking pictures from what seemed like today but they would be from 3 days ago and I'd feel bad for missing people's pos…

That L'Oreal Collaboration You Need Now

Over on my Bloglovin I featured the new L'Oreal X Balmain collaboration and my lord are they cute.  I definitely didn't need any more lipsticks but of course I had to check out this new collaboration and see what it is all about. They released 12 shades and I picked up 3 shades to give them a test priced at £12.99. I picked these up from Harvey Nichols I picked up Legend, Fever, and Power.

First off the packaging, they have seriously done well with these packaging. It really ties the two brands together and makes the lipsticks feel high end. They are the kind of lipsticks that you just want to display on your dressing table forever. They still stick with the signature L'Oreal packaging so you really get the best of both worlds here.

I haven't used an actual lipstick in such a long time as I fell into the liquid lipstick wormhole and haven't been out of it until these came out. They have a semi matte finish to them so that they don't dry your lips down. Compared t…

Autumnal Orange Toned Eye Look

Autumn is finally here and I couldn't be happier. It's time for the scarfs, coats, and anything orange and red is back out. Which means that it's time for me to start bringing out the Autumnal looks and I thought I would kick it off with an eye look. This eye look is fully drugstore so it's an easy way to get that Autumnal look all day everyday.

For my eye base I'm using the Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer £3.99. It's been years since I used this concealer I forgot how good of a base it is for the eyes. I normally sweep this over the lids and then let it set with the Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder £3.99.

Once this has set it's time to try out a new palette. Barry M recently released their Fall in Love £6.49 palette. First of all it's an actual dream to look at, you couldn't get more Autumn vibes from any other palette. It features 10 matte shades allowing you to get that dreamy eye look in so many different ways. I'm ta…

Get That Firm Skin With A Bit Of Help From GlamGlow

Couple years back GlamGlow was all the rave. People were obsessed and needed their face masks instantly. I didn't really get on board with the hype for a while as I didn't really get it. Nor did I even have the money to buy any of it. They've finally started doing smaller sizes of their masks now which are a lifesaver. Even though I love a good face mask I couldn't see myself spending that much on something I might not even like.

There's a fairly big range now with the masks than what their used to be. I decided to try out the firming one as this seemed to have the biggest consistent hype out of them all. Plus in my collection everything is either hydrating or detoxing so it's about time we mixed things up a bit. This is an easy peel off mask so application was a dream. Just be careful that it doesn't go anywhere.

After making you look like the tin man for 15-20 minutes the mask is ready to come off and already I saw results. I didn't expect this to go so…

Goals For Second Year Of University

Tomorrow I start my second year of University. There's a part of me that is excited and nervous but I've decided to change my game plan around a bit. I want to be more organised and focused this year throughout. I found myself hitting a point after Christmas where I really lost my motivation but this time round it's gonna change.

So let's kick off with the first goal, I want to actually write down notes this time. I spent first year typing up word for word the lecturer said. But honestly this just didn't work for me, I am a sucker for writing down little notes rather than typing them up so it's time to get back to pen and paper. It's a lot easier to summarise when writing down rather than when your typing, you fall into this mindset of needing to save every single word they say.

I am going to cook food from scratch at least 4 nights a week. Now this sounds dumb but I really just don't cook a lot of meals from scratch. I find myself getting tired and worn …
