My Goals Til The End Of The Year

WOO, I'm back, it feels weird having a bit of a break. But in all honesty it was very overdue, I'm the kind of person that finds themselves running on empty quite a bit. It's something I don't want to be like obviously, but I'm very much an 'oh well I'll find time for a break later on' rather than at the moment when I need it. It's not exactly been a relaxing sit around do nothing, it's been more of a right I have a new job so my attention needs to be on that, I'm in the world of 9-5 so it's taken me some time to find my feet and get settled into the new routine.

But I feel like I've got there now, I actually do 7 hours a day so my trick to combat that is to do add an extra hour onto my day to go to a cute cafe and get some blog posts done. And with that, I wanted to set myself some goals so that this break and time to think was for more than my return post. My blog has been very up and down over the years, it's had an up and dow…

The Red Lip Love

It's about time I mentioned a red lip for the first time in absolute ages. Red lipstick is a signature I always in my life. I wear them a lot actually even though you probably wouldn't have any clue as I don't normally document it each time. I have got a pretty good collection now but there's one that really sticks out for me. I got a miniature YSL lipstick when I got the Black Opium perfume. I was so excited and it's my first designer lipstick so there's sentimental value to this beauty.

First off that packaging though, it has the high end feel to it which I am fully fine with this one. The fact that it's a miniature means it's even cuter. Like come on it's tiny lipstick how could I not find this cute. Because of how tiny it is it fits in my little bags perfect so come on there's already a love affair here.

Colour wise this is a real pop art red. Which come on am I ever gonna hate, it has a matte finish but there is a slight hint of shine. For me…

Lingerie Taboo

It's time for a good old follow up post, I did a post about this a while ago talking all about lingerie and why we deserve to be confident. I wanted to talk more about this and relate it more to what's happening in today's society.

Free the nipple has taken a massive stride in the past couple of years. The media makes more effort to  promote this and a lot of influencers are taking the theme more seriously. It's refreshing to see more people are getting on board and sharing body confidence. There's always still the same people that shame us for showing off our body and it's time that changed.

We need to become more accepting as a society and stop shaming those who are confident to show off their bodies. However in the same breath we shouldn't be pressuring others to express themselves if they aren't confident. I have met people who have felt the need to show off their bodies because others have made them feel like they have to. If you want to post about …

Hidden Gems - Cow

I mentioned this lovely place a while ago in my vintage shopping post. But I didn't really do it that much justice. Cow has a special place in my heart and I am always so excited to go in there. I've managed to get more and more stuff from there recently. It's always good to go in frequently to get your hands on the new stuff and plus why wouldn't you want to go in there anywhere.

It's got a vintage feel to it, from old sweatshirts to sun dresses they have a good mix of everything. If you're a brand lover check out the top floor like a hawk it has the best bits. I managed to get a Tommy Hilfiger shirt here for £16 and it's one of my favourite shirts. It really holds everything, even a pair of cowboy boots that I am desperate to get my hands on.

Price wise it isn't the cheapest but with the amount of brands the place has i'm not surprised. It's one of the best places to just have a look round in. Whether you're on the hunt for something or not.…

Edinburgh in 3 Days

It's my first trip of the year and it was to not so sunny Edinburgh. As I'm writing this I'm on the train staring at all the stuff I got wondering if I even needed half of it. Well I got a new tote bag out of it all so I guess we'll say it was worth it. I took some time after exams to have a break before getting back to Uni to start semester 2 and thought I would share with you some of the things I did during my 3 days in Edinburgh.

The first thing was walking, so much walking. Honestly how my legs are still here after the amount of walking I did. We were up and down everywhere but honestly the views were worth it. It has a real city vibe to it but with everything being so close but high up it is a nice walk round the place. It was so nice to see everything and find some new places that I would never have gone if I went by myself. I luckily had my friend as an amazing tour guide. So it was very relaxed and full of laughs.

Shopping was a big thing for me, I mean when is i…

That Dreamy L'Oreal face mask

Another face mask! I know I know but this is what happens. I take a break try one and then four are in my possession and I’m honestly not sorry. It’s a way to destress and after the January exams I’ll take as many masks as I can get.

It’s one of the Garnier ones with makes me so happy as it’s almost like a pretty collection I can collect. I mean I have one of the new ones with three just being released so it will definitely be getting some new additions. I picked up the yellow glow scrub mask. It’s been all about the glow and scrubs at the moment and It makes me very happy.
Since wearing less makeup and having more makeup less days I’ve been looking at my skin more closely. I want it to still have a similar glow with or without makeup. Plus what’s better than looking like Marge Simpson for 10-15 minutes.
The general instructions to use several times a week to get that glow and then you’re there. It’s an addition to the makeup kit I will find myself using regularly. I used clay masks n…

Hidden Gems- New York Bagel Shop

Food is here again for this weeks Hidden gems what a shock. It's been a month of eating whatever I can as the fitness lifestyle starts back up again in February. I wanted to relax myself into it so before that happens let's talk about the new bagel shop that's opened up in the Northern Quarter.

The Northern Quarter is a food and drink galore. With an array of cafe’s bars and restaurants it’s hard to find a place you won’t like. As a lover of bagels I was very excited to check this place out. And to have JessisTrying by my side as we are die hard bagel lovers it was a fun time.

The place has a minimalistic feel to it, with the dark walls and simplistic decor it doesn’t feel cluttered or all over the place. With plenty of space and good music this was already a winner for me. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, making sure everything was good for us with our food and drinks. It was nice for them to check on us and make sure everything is good.
I’ll point…

Where I'm At Now With My Mental Health

So I went and got help, that happened. I knew that something needed to change. I want to do a post later on speaking up but for now let's focus on what's changed. Mentally a lot has been going on, I went on holiday for a bit and tried to have a break mentally. I felt so good about everything and met some amazing people who have helped me along the way. But I knew something had to change, I couldn't shake the cloud that was over me. I felt fine majority of the time but there was something that just wouldn't go. It was like an overload of emotions that would bring me down to my lowest and least confident self.

I went to my GP after battling years of talking to them, I received medication but i wanted something more. I managed to get on board with a program that is an online anxiety course and I've noticed a difference in myself already. I really struggle to shut everything off and have time to myself, as someone who is doing several things at once all the time and con…

That Scent On Everybody Is Gonna Be

It feels weird sitting here writing about perfume. I’m the least likely person to sit here and tell you all about the notes and what not inside a perfume. But I’ve fallen in love with a fragrance and I can’t not tell you about it. I took the time at Christmas to really look at something I wanted. I wanted to get a new perfume and this one got me straight away.

It’s no surprise seeing as most people are in love with it at the moment. The YSL Black Opium £50 perfume has come into my life and I’m pretty hooked. I went through a phase of not  wearing perfume and I didn’t feel any different it wasn’t something that bothered me. But there’s something about getting a slight glimpse of your perfume on you after a long day that is kind of calming.
Scent wise it’s definitely more of a smokey kind of scent. When I was younger I wanted any scent that was sweet I dread to think how I smelt when I doused myself in perfume and topped it up every 20 seconds. I apologise to anyone for those days now! Wi…

Hidden Gems- Northern Soul Grilled Cheese

The hidden gems series is promised to be a mix. This week I’m back with food what an amazing topic. I know it’s something majority of people love about Manchester and when there’s cheese involved it gets even better. It was my first time at Northern Soul Grilled Cheese and it definitely won’t be my last.

I headed there with JessIsTrying and had potentially the dreamiest mac n cheese of my life. The theme is cheese and grilled cheese specifically if you haven’t already figured. They have options with meat and you can really customise your order with the extras.
They also do milkshakes which looked so dreamy, that is on the agenda for next time! Nothing can sound better than mac n cheese and an oreo milkshake. The whole place is a cheese dreamland and it’s sunk me in for good.
The place has a real relaxed vibe to it, the sit down decor and the jazzy music it’s a great upbeat place situated just before the Northern Quarter Near Afflecks Palace and the Arndale.
It’s got a personal touch to …

Why Did I Choose This Degree?

Psychology, no it isn't a mind reading degree. And no my one goal isn't to become a therapist. Why did i chose psychology is a question I normally ask half way through an essay, where the motivation is gone and i'm wondering if doing Law was the better idea. I pick myself up grab a hot chocolate and remember why I am here. Why I am doing this degree.

My passion has always been to help someone, I want to have a contribution and for me it's either in research or on a group level. The idea of being a teacher has never sat right with me. But I have always been influenced by education, it's always had my passion and i received a lot of support and help that i wish i could give back to someone else. Since starting my retail job i got more experience with serving and helping customers with behavioural issues and disabilities. The world is hardest enough sometimes for us it can be even harder and daunting for someone with behavioural or disability issues.

Budapest Essentials

In a matter of days i shall be in Budapest. It's a quick trip round sight seeing but i couldn't be more excited to go. It's always been a place on my bucket list. As much as i love a warm sunny country it'd be nice to see a different change of scenery. Taking a quick glance at the 4* weather I decided comfort and warmth is gonna be key. To anyone else going there or you just want to be nosey I thought I would show you what I'm taking with me. From makeup to clothes.

Let's start with makeup, because it is going to be so cold I'm packing plenty of moisturiser. My skin gets really bad when it's cold so something that will keep my skin feeling good is an essential. I'm taking the Garnier Moisture Bomb Moisturiser £5.29 with me to get that skin in tip top condition whilst I'm there. I'm also packing some of the Soap and Glory Shower and Body Lotion Mini's £5. This glorious set came out around Christmas time and it's such a smart idea. Rat…

Hidden Gems- Fred Aldous

I thought we'd take a break this week. I've done a few guides on Manchester and i thought that I would focus on one shop today. It's for those who are into art and design or even if you just like a mooch round a nice shop. Fred Aldous situated in the Northern Quarter has fulled a lot of my blogging inspiration and backgrounds for a long time. So why not pay back the respect and share what this store has to offer.

From quirky decor, the cutest greeting cards and the best selection of stationery you'll see in the Northern Quarter the main floor has it down to a t. With photo booths for use and friendly staff it's hard not to love this place. It's also hard not to walk out buying everything, the amount of times i have had to stop myself buying so many things from here is a guilty amount.

If you go down the stairs you are led to an artists heaven. A room filled with supplies, from blogging backgrounds to paints it has a bit of everything. They have a real range of …
