Best Spots in Manchester for a Good Old Drink

I'm surprised I've never really covered this before, but in the past year I've ventured out a bit and gone around town looking for the best places for a drink, from cocktails to ciders there's a range of places across Manchester that deserve a bit of a spotlight. I like a mixture of drinks and there's nothing worse than going to a new bar and choosing the same drink you have everywhere else, I like to try something different each time. So if you're looking for a new place to grab a drink take note of where am about to mention, from the Northern Quarter to Spinningfields.

First up, is Jimmy's if you're into the more indie scene of Manchester this is a great place to check out. They have a great range of cocktails, great music that you can't miss and they house a lot of gigs around the year. Some of my best gigs from the past year have been at Jimmy's and it's somewhere you really can't miss. It's a bit different to the rest on the lis…

Hidden Gems- Size? Trainer Love

It's no surprise that I've fallen in love with trainers. I really go through phases when it comes to shoes. One week I only want boots, then it's brogues, then it's sandals. It's a weird kind of phase I go through but the obession gets real. Since getting more into trainers I've felt the need to get more. They go with anything, they are casual but can be dressed up to some extreme. Every holiday or trip has to include a pair of trainers it just has to happen. I've been on the hunt for a new pair and let's just say I may have found 3 or 5 pairs that I need in my life.

Around Manchester there's so many shops to check out, from Schuh, Jd, and Office there's a range. I have recently fell in love with size?. They offer a range of limited edition stock, shoes, clothes, accessories the whole lot. Offering 10% student discount it is the newest place you need to check out.

I've picked out the top three pairs that I really need in my life, first off l…

Where's The Holiday Plans

We're getting closer to Summer and even closer to some time off uni. I can't wait to have a Summer to relax and get that my time back. I'm planning on spending that time on some trips away, I've been in Budapest and Edinburgh so far this year. I would love to spend a bit more time in the UK with a trip to London definitely on the cards, and even maybe a quick trip abroad.

But where would I go abroad? I'd love to check out Rome or Lisbon. I love the cultured side to Rome, I spent some time in Milan last year and it was such a breathtaking place. It'd be great even for a couple of days to spend some time looking around and exploring. There are museums and so many sites I would struggle to get bored here, plus the opportunities for some amazing photos I couldn't possibly turn down.

Lisbon seems like such an interesting place for me, there are the views and museums. For me mainly it all has a relaxed vibe to it, I can't wait to go there one day and experience…

We Got Some New Lush Goodies

It's that time again where I go into Lush just to have a look and walk back out spending £18. Yep that's right I went very overboard, can't really justify the spending but it happened. I treated myself to some bath stuff and finally picked up a mask. We all know I love a good mask but I haven't used one from Lush for years, it was time that changed and it was a decision I do not regret looking back.

This amazing mask that I've raved about is the Cup O Coffee, now first off I hate coffee. The smell, taste, texture and all that just isn't for me. But this however works, it has quite a strong smell which I was quite hesistant about at first but once it's on my face I don't notice it. It's a scrub kinda mask so I normally leave this on for about 15 minutes and then wash it all away, first time of using this and I was so impressed. It didn't feel harsh on my skin and my skin felt so soft for a couple of days after. I have a lot of issues with dry ski…

Hidden Gems- Fopp Vinyls

We're back to some cool places for a week, I took yet another trip into town this week and I couldn't not talk about this place. Everyone who knows me should know that I love a bit of music, I am always trying to find the places that support bands without breaking your bank. The days of wasting all your money in HMV are over and it's time to support somebody else. I am there for the vinyl lovers and i've found the next best place to check out. Fopp vinyls holds music, dvd's, games the lot. It's a place packed full of everything. Anything you need entertainment wise lives in here.

Years back I used to cling onto this place, I went through a massive poster phase and i remember running through town with my new posters the 3 for £7 deal changed my life, it was the next best thing after sliced bread. I used to walk down the aisles in love, the endless amount of cd's this is the kind of place where you'll get a real bargain for some old school cd's.

Self Care Tips

I feel like every post relating to relaxation or uni is always at the stressful time. I've never hated the month of March so much until now, deadlines galore and side projects starting. It really isn't the best combo, I'm not the kind of person that can just drop everything and spend some me time. It just doesn't happen, instead, I have found some ways to make it all a little bit easier. My life is in no way stress-free but there are a few little tips I found for self-care, allowing you to still have a little you time even if you're surrounded by everything.

First thing for me is my hair, I let it go to a really bad state when everything was piling up. I found it was really nice to put a hair mask on, okay I couldn't sit there in absolute bliss whilst it was on. But my hair felt amazing afterwards and it really got me in a good mood, my go to when I have the time is the Garnier Ultimate blends Coconut Milk Dry Hair Mask, it's quick and easy to use and I coul…

Dreamy Asos Outfit Wishlist

It's clothes time, nope I don't need anymore but that doesn't mean I can't dream of the pieces I long to own. There's a real mix appearing at the moment, I want to incorporate them all into my wardrobe so it's really about getting those staple pieces. My go-to place for all of this is Asos, with the new in section updated daily there's always something to come across.

I thought I would share with you the items on my wishlist, one day I better be owning some of this. There's a mix of trainers, boots, dresses, tops, the whole shubang. And with that let's get started with some tops I need in my life right now.

First off is this Rainbow stripe crop top, anything rainbow is in at the moment. Those pops of colour help to add a bit of joy to any outfit. This top can be matched with pretty much anything and it'd work, think a denim skirt or some flares you can dress it however it suits you. This isn't one of those pieces you have to buy a whole new ou…

Hidden Gems- House of Holland

This week is a dreamy post for me, I've always dreamed of working or at least being able to afford to spend my money on certain brands. For years I have fallen in love with House of Holland, it's a brand of dream and jazziness. Breaking the limits of average clothing and going that extra mile. From the star jumpsuits to the velvet dress it really goes there. I thought I would spend this week showing you my top picks from the new line and what I would dream to have in my wardrobe right now.

For spring-summer, the brand is going for pops of colours. From those dreamy purple and yellow items, it's all coming back. There's almost a 70's vibe going on with the floral styles and that hippie chick kinda vibe going on.

My first love is probably not a surprise it's this dreamy rainbow wave jumper. It has a juxtaposition of the nice pop of rainbow and the dark brown it adds a neutral kind of element to it. With the style of this, I would probably layer it up with maybe a…

Zoeva Pastel Perfection

It's getting close to spring and although the weather isn't great who doesn't love a good spring eye. From the light shades to the major pops of colour. I'm excited to see what trends appeared and with that, I am bringing a statement eyeshadow palette with me. The Zoeva Sweet Glamour palette has arrived and oh me am I excited. I am very much a warm tones gal so it was weird to fall in love with such light and dainty colours. Although there is a tan shade so you know I'm in love with this.
The palette has a sweet kind of feel to it, the tender shades of sweet glamour have hit my makeup life just when I needed it to. It's given my makeup a real switch up in the right direction, there are only so many days where I can do a warm neutral look without feeling stuck in a routine. Don't get me wrong I love going for what I know but sometimes you gotta break out the colours and experiment.
And let's talk about experimenting this palette has purples, blues, and e…

Simple Skincare Rundown

Skincare is always a little side love of mine. There's not a face mask I won't try nor is there a spot treatment that goes unused. I try to not fill my routine with too much as let's be realistic I'm not going to apply 40 products to my face every night if I've just got back from a long day/night. I try to keep it with the essentials and then with anything that I want as an extra. The tea tree oil, of course, has stayed center stage but there are some others that have entered my life.

Here's the routine, use the L'Oreal Fine Flower Cleansing Milk £4.15 to get the makeup off. Now I am on my second bottle and it's going to be hard to stop me using this I love it. It's easy to use and it has some serious power in it. I normally use this at night and do a little top up in the morning depending on how my skin feels.

After it's all been washed off I go in with a little scrub. The L'Oreal Pure Clay Glow Scrub £5.99 this is a gentle day to day scrub t…

Hidden Gems- Where it's heading

It's a little bit odd writing this, I almost feel sad that it's coming to a halt for now. I wanted to get more content onto my blog for this year. I wanted there to be a real mix of stuff from your beauty places to the food to the little shops you gotta go in. I never had serious plans for this to instantly take off but they've been a real hit really.

I wanted to keep it central to Manchester, the advice centre for those just visiting or after somewhere new to go. I've shared a lot of places around Manchester before so it was crucial that I kept it different and didn't just rhyme off the places everybody knows about. I started to reach a point where I was struggling for ideas, I didn't wanna loose the flavour it had so we're gonna be shaking it up. Call it Hidden Gems 2.0

It's time to get something different in there, rather than constantly giving you the same old. It took a lot of brainstorming, well it took 5 minutes of a genius idea  to come to life.…

What I Would Say To First Year Me

You've made it into University congrats! It's a daunting time and I know how anxious you are but when you finally get that freedom and you can do and eat what you want and when you want. It's a weird sense of independence but you'll love it honestly. Let's start talking about what you need to do in your first year.

First off go out as much as you can, it's daunting at the time but as a second year now I wish I would've done it. Who cares about that 9am it's podcasted for a reason so don't worry. It's a time to finally let go a bit and trust me I went out a lot but i wish i'd taken it slow in terms of the work.

Which is the next point, don't burn yourself out. I did the silly mistake of going in all guns blazing and being ready to frazzle by after Christmas. I put everything into it and the results don't show. Second year  is harder so that work in first year yeah was good but I should've saved my energy for now. It's crunch tim…

I Fell Back In Love With Makeup Again

It may seem like my love for makeup never disappeared. I've had a constant red smokey eye the whole time and nobody guessed it. However since middle January I've barely put on makeup unless I was going on a night out. It's weird to think that I just stopped wearing it a lot. I've become more confident in my skin and i preferred less makeup for a while. It meant I could spend more time in bed and generally at the time my appearance was the last of my concerns.

As weird as it sounds i didn't feel the same without it all on. I'm not talking the layers of concealer foundations and powders. I missed my eye makeup more than anything. I missed spending too long doing my eyeliner and feeling like a brand new person with a bit of mascara. It was like a little mask I could wear for myself that got me out into the world. Makeup is something i've liked and stuck with since being 13 and it felt weird to have a break from it for a bit.

I found myself getting bored and I wo…

Hidden Gems - Oklahoma

It's time to talk about even more cute shops in Manchester, I always struggle to walk into one of these shops and not buy everything. It's not an easy task to do but my bank account is surely thankful. I'm a sucker for anything cute and tiny and if it's red or got a cherry on it you know I'm already gonna be at the till. If you're after a cute gift or just love a good look around you need to check out Oklahoma.

Situated in the ever so cute Northern quarter near Almost Famous this is an easy spot for anyone to get to. From the kitsch decor to the range of products that are constantly updating this place holds a special place in my heart. It's bright it's colourful and the staff couldn't be more helpful if they tried.

From bags to robots the place really has everything. I've had my eye on a few prints there and the day when I can finally get my own place you all know I will be down there in a flash ready. It's hard to walk round the place and …
