Let's Bring The New In

Image
Out with the old in with the new but sadly not a High School Musical appreciation post, although that will fully happen one day. It’s that part of the week where content is thrown at you for 3 days but wait a second? That’s changing for a little bit.

The flow of uni, exams, and general life has knocked me off my wave a bit. Normally the pressure is manageable but this topped with feeling unmotivated and stuck in a blogging rut made me kinda tired. I wanted to take some time and reduce my content a little. Still post as my heart desires but stick to that one a week. One week it may be a hidden gems, one week it may be a roundup of the month.

For now I wanna get experimenting, get those creative juices flowing and get a plan down. Nobody understands how much I love a pattern, my blog should almost be like a story. There’s gonna be old and new, nothing borrowed or blue but it’s being switched up and I’m excited.
I’ve hinted at a change for ages, before I even knew what that would be. The…

Pop of Orange Cut Crease Look

Image
I haven't done a look in what feels like lightyears. I switch up the eye looks quite often but you never really get to see that side. I thought I would show you how I added a pop of color to my look. I decided to go for orange, I've done yellow and I am still in love with it to date. Did a rose gold liner so now it's time for some orange. I might even try pink one day but let's not get too ahead of ourselves.

To get this eye going it's time for a bit of a base, I normally just use concealer and the Collection Lasting Perfection is the one for me. I apply it all over the lid and let it set, it acts great as a neutral base. Especially when adding color it's much easier to have a neutral base to go from, it requires less product and makes the whole thang easier. After putting on the base I normally swipe a neutral shadow over the lid, for this I'm using the Soph Does Nails palette £10, I've pretty much-hit pan here on a lot of these shadows. I can't bel…

Hidden Gems- NastyGal

Image
The world of online shopping has really taken off over the past couple of years. There's so many places you can head to and you already know about the big names. Everyone knows Missguided has a place in my heart but have you ever checked out NastyGal. They stick to the trends with a bit of an edge to it all. It's like urban outfitters and missguided had a baby that didn't cost you the earth. I can spend hours going through the site so as per I am going to show you some of my top picks from the site.
Slogan tees are a big thing for me, I love a good slogan tee because they can be worn either way. They say a lot without you having to go all out there, if you are someone who wants to experiement with your wardrobe a bit this is a great way to go. I have fell in love with a couple through the site so let's look at my top picks. I picked out three go to ones that need to somehow fall into my wardrobe soon.
                                        Top 1. Saucy Tee £15
Top 2. W…

So I Spoke To Samaritans

Image
There's something about mental health that gets to me, I am a real advocate for speaking out and finding people who want to listen. I've always tried to share as much as I feel comfortable with in terms of my mental health. I try to be open and speak out but sometimes it is hard to share this all with a friend. Sometimes I feel more comfortable speaking to a complete stranger or just writing it all out. I hit a low point and really lost my way and I decided to speak to Samarians.

I didn't want to ring, for me I didn't feel comfortable with that. They luckily have an email service, I didn't feel like I needed instant help I just wanted to speak to someone. It was easier to have someone to email, I could do it when I feel like and when I have the time and it helped so much for me. I wanted to speak to someone when I could, it was just nice to have someone to speak to me. Especially because they know nothing about me, it was comforting to speak to someone who didn'…

Why I Wouldn't Buy A Designer Item

Image
Controversial really, we can all sit there and say that we wouldn't buy something designer, apart from the fact that I can't afford to anyway it. For me spending that much money on one thing doesn't sit right with me, there are so many things you could get for that one off purchase. When it comes to a designer item I wouldn't just buy it on a whim, I want to be able to justify the price. It's a lot of money to spend on something that may not actually be worth it, you hear people banging on about the quality of these items but surely you could've still got that somewhere else.

In terms of makeup I don't ever want to spend a lot, it sounds bizarre but for me, I don't see the point. Okay, there are better results sometimes but that doesn't mean you can't work on the lower end products and get them to that standard. It might take practice but you get there in the end, and your pocket still has money in it. I went through a phase where I would justif…

Hidden Gems- The Ordinary Primer

Image
I decided to give some new products a try, I wanted something different that I hadn't looked at before. I'd heard so many reviews about The Ordinary skincare brand by Deciem. I didn't want to load on some new skincare as my skin is taking a rough patch at the moment. I've got a lot of acne and dryness and I want to get that sorted before anything new comes into play. I am always on the hunt for some new makeup bits and their silicone primer really appeals to me.

Whilst in London for a day I decided to pop into their store and oh my did I fall in love. I could've easily picked up so much stuff from there but I limited myself to one product. I had so many recommendations for the High Adherence Silicone Primer £3.90. First off it's at a drugstore price and under £4 so you knew I was gonna be all over that. I decided to put this to the test for 5 days straight and a couple of days with no primer to see how my face reacted to it.

For me I don't have a lot to my …

Staying Original In This Blogging World

Image
There isn't a day that goes by where someone isn't 'copying' somebody else. You both have the same shirt like probably 10,000 other people do but suddenly you're copying them. It's hard to be original when everyone is so insistent on not being copied. It's hard to be in this business and be original at times, you may all want to do a post on that new foundation, a lot of people might like it and that automatically becomes copying.

Just because two people like something and they have a similar experience how can we call that copying. It makes little to no sense, if I want to talk about the instagram algorithim and so does someone else it's nothing original nor is it copying. Everyone has their moments with the algorithim, everyone finds out about similar things and a lot of us have collected opinions. It's not copying if you agree with something or following the same thing.

There are clear examples of copying I get that, but we can't be so viscou…

Why You Can Wear That

Image
I'm over the days of hearing someone saying they can't wear something or try a new thing out. I'm talking about makeup and fashion here we won't get much deeper than that for now. I see constantly on my feeds people talking about stuff they wish they could wear. Those bright purple hoops, that extra eye look. Anyone can wear those, it takes putting them on and stepping out the door to do it.

Why do we feel like we can't wear or try something? The difference between you and that person who's rocking it is that they are doing it. There's no reason why people can't try it. I use to feel like I couldn't wear blue jeans, it's such an odd thing to think about. I've got body insecurities and the vision of me in blue jeans I couldn't shake out of my head. I woke up one day bought a pair put them on and went out, it was weird at first but I got over it. It takes that exposure to get over it, now I wear them pretty much all the time.

Hidden Gems- Monki

Image
Monki is a new found love for me, I have spent a lot of time scrolling through the websites and dreaming of the day a store opens up near me. And one finally is! in the good news of a new store opening up in the Arndale I thought i'd share with you my top picks from their collections at the moment to give you some inspiration for when the store finally opens. Monki is an affordable brand that touches on the current trends at the moment, there's always an element of extra to their pieces and there is so much that is on my wishlist at the moment. Let's break it down to some of the key pieces you'll be needing.

The first thing is really out there, it's good to start with a bang and these are really something. Light Denim Jeans £40 are always in, we've seen the pearl embellished trend and the embroidery trend they were a real hit. A creeping trend is printed denim, from slogans to designs it's coming back in. Now I can't tell if I love these for the print o…

That Bubble Mask Love

Image
Oh here we are, yet again reviewing another face mask. For once I got this in a pretty good deal so it means I had to get it right? Praise Superdrug for the 3 for 2 deals and a free mask on top. This is a different kind of mask than the usual, it’s aSkin Republic Charcoal Bubbling Mask £5.49which let me tell you it’s the funniest mask I have put on in a while. I’ve always wanted to try a bubbling mask and with this one having charcoal in it I was more intrigued.
I’ve got a couple of breakouts at the moment that have sadly appeared, so this was needed at the right time. Also, who doesn’t need a bit of TLC sometimes? I was on FaceTime to someone as I applied it and we both got a lot of laughs, it was nice to have some time to relax and look after my skin at the same time.

After giving my skin a good clean and a scrub I applied this mask and left it on for about 15 minutes. You have to rub the packet first to get the bubbles activated, then apply it to the face and you’ll feel the magic…

Bin That Foundation

Image
You might remember months ago I went 30 days without foundation, it had a weird start and it wasn't a simple stop using and accept my skin kinda feel. It was weird and it took me a good amount of days to adjust. But once I'd adjust the idea of foundation meant nothing to me, I didn't really feel like I needed it. Since then, I've barely worn foundation since on a few nights where I've wanted more coverage it's been good. But I am living the full concealer life and I don't think I would turn back.

My skin isn't amazing, it has it's good and bad days and on the bad days, it is hard to conceal and cover. But my skin is my skin and I shouldn't feel upset or embarrassed by it, I love covering it and creating a new base for the rest of my makeup. With foundation, I always went overboard, either full coverage or no coverage. On the days when my skin really flared up, it was so hard to get a foundation to cover it without it all being too much.

I went t…
