Birchbox 3 Months On

Image
Subscription boxes are a weird niche, they're a nice little pick me up each month tailored to you. For me, I've always wanted to try these and for the past three months, I've been subscribed to Birchbox. Each month I've received a bunch of products and I've given my verdict on them. I thought I would review the whole service after three months of purchasing and share my loves from the boxes and the ones you could definitely miss out on.

The boxes overall have been good, there hasn't been any in which I haven't been disappointed. The service offers boxes tailored to you, after filling out a quick questionnaire it helps to tailor the products to you. What I've found throughout the boxes is it's normally 1 or 2 products that you will receive that might be different to what other people receive. This means there isn't that much personalisation around the box and what you get.

However, I feel like the products in there, for the most part, are tailore…

Colour Refresh With Schwarzkopf Live Colour

The whole red hair phase has lasted a very long time, I always dip between dark and brighter shades throughout the year. Now that it's getting a bit warmer and the weather is getting a bit better I thought I'd try and go a bit brighter and go for switch it up a bit. I'm quite particular with what products I use on my hair and especially when it comes to dye, I normally stick with what I know and love so for me I always feel really sceptical when I want to try something new.

But as a long lover of the Schwarzkopf Live Colour range, I really love the permanent dyes as someone who doesn't want to spend all their time dyeing their hair. It stays on for a good time and really makes an impact, but I wanted something to boost the colour in between dyes. I've bought all the colour boosting shampoos and masks and they work great but I always feel like after a while they lose their touch. So I decided to put my faith into the new Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL Stay Bright Booster Red £2.99.

Unlike the time needed to dye your hair normally, this is a treatment you can do whilst in the shower. For me, this is something I use once a week in between washes just to give my hair that refresh. It's semi-permanent and can replace your shampoo. For me I feel like I can only use this once a week, my hair needs washing every two days and when I use this, I notice my hair feeling a little greasy after the first day so a little bit of dry shampoo is needed.

As it is a booster this isn't meant to replace the hair dye you would usually use, but instead, this can be used in between just to give it a refresh. I find with the Schwarzkopf dyes the colour lasts for a while but I do find that it starts to lose the intensity after about 12 washes, so I thought to keep that vibrancy this would be a nice little addition. I've used this after freshly dyeing my hair and it worked really well to keep the colour in.

I normally use this on the roots and work it into the ends, it works great to keep the colour in and add that intensity. I don't think it's strong enough to be used all over the head but I think for the roots and ends it's a great little addition. The only warning I would give is that this will constantly run after washes If you're planning on going swimming or showering just be wary that it will run a little bit. It normally does this for 1-2 washes after you've used the treatment so do be careful. I have an unfortunate storytime where I used this went swimming the next day and ruined a nice wet swimsuit so be careful!

Overall, it's a pretty good product and it works great. I really love having something like this to give my hair that needed vibrancy between washes. If you're looking for a hair boost then this is the one for you. Haircare wise I don't tend to put too much on my hair, because I dye it I like to make sure I don't go overboard with it. Just needs that care and an extra bit of TLC
