June Birchbox Unboxing

It's my fourth Birchbox and each month there's a whole mix of stuff in this months, I normally do the IGTV videos for these boxes but with such a range of products I wanted to give them a trial run first and then share my first impression of them. Normally I do the whole review later on but I thought we'd mix it up a bit and try the products out first and then show ya what you get in the box and what seems to be worth the money. This months box was in partnership with Paperchase, they've got a few discount codes in there that you really can't miss out.

First up in the box, is the Coco and Eve Like A Virgin Super Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque, I'm always up for trying any haircare stuff and recently I've noticed how bad my hair is getting. I'm making more of an effort to look after my hair especially when it comes to brushing it, my hair gets tangled so easily so having anything that will help calm that is a godsend. I've used this a couple of times since receiving the box and it's been working so well for my hair, the main effect I see if that calms my hair down and makes detangling my hair a lot easier, it's less of a mission now to get my hair brushed. I want to give this a go a few more times as I'm impressed by it for it's detangling ability, but for £34.50 I want to make sure it's helping my hair all round before I splurge.

Next up is the Benefit Gimme Brow in 03 Medium, now this is a throwback product for me. I've used this a couple of times and always been impressed with it, as my brows require a bit of filling in I'd normally use this at the front of my brow to define the hairs and get everything set in place. So when this came in the box I already knew this is something I'd love, I find that they are including more well-known brands such as when they included the Porefessional a couple boxes ago. As to whether I would purchase this in the full size at £21.50, I probably would during Christmas or when there is a big discount on, as it doesn't fill my brows completely in I would probably get this every now and then as I don't tend to go through these quickly.

Then we have the Paul & Joe Moisturising Foundation Primer, now Paul and Joe is a brand that I've known about for years but I've never really tried out much from them. One of my friends loves the brand so when I saw this come in I was excited to give it a whirl, the one downside I have to it off the bat is that there is no pump or anything, you simply pour the product out onto your hand. Now, this is common for the brand and the way their packaging is to have the free pour, but I struggled to work out how much of this I would really need when I first started trying it. Besides that the primer is nice, I didn't see a big difference between when I used this and when I didn't, but I did notice that it took a lot longer in the day for my skin to become oily so I do commend the primer for that. I probably wouldn't repurchase this again as I don't think it really did enough for me to make me want to have this in my everyday collection.

Sticking with the makeup for one last product, we have the Laritzy Lip Stix in Gala, now this is the full-size product in the box and is so happy to see a lipstick. I love a good red lipstick but I don't often find myself finding ones that really stand out to me that aren't too similar to what I already own. This works great for me as it's nice and creamy but doesn't feel overly glossy on the lips, because it was a lip liner/lipstick stick in one I was a bit concerned that it would be sheer as I'm so used to the intense matte impact but this held up pretty well. This didn't last as good as my matte ones do but because it feels pretty good on the lips I wouldn't mind having to reapply this throughout the day. If I run out of this would I purchase it again? Absolutely, I think for the price and the application it's definitely opened my eyes to trying lipsticks that don't have to be stand out matte and adding a wee bit of gloss to my life.

Last but not least is the Balance Me Flash cleanse micellar water, this for me is going into my bad books. And I wish I didn't have to such a negative opinion straight away about a product but this really doesn't do it for me. I'm a lover of micellar water and it's been ages since I've used any but this didn't do it for me, as there is an oil base to it my face was just left feeling sticky and it made my skin feel completely different to how it usually feels. I applied this and applied my makeup about an hour after and my face was still covered in the oil and my makeup slipped about all day, this might potentially work at night but even after I'd rinsed it the residue was still there and I don't think it's something you'd want to sleep in.

Overall, it was a mixed box for me there was a good variety of products in there with some I have already used previously. I noticed that all the items in the box apart from the Micellar water retailed for over £20 which for me is a little bit out of my price range for some of the products featured in the box. I did however like a few of the products and I'll update you all in a couple of weeks about the products and which ones did or didn't work for me after a couple of weeks of testing them out.

Until next time, Chloe!
