Best Spots in Manchester for a Good Old Drink

I'm surprised I've never really covered this before, but in the past year I've ventured out a bit and gone around town looking for the best places for a drink, from cocktails to ciders there's a range of places across Manchester that deserve a bit of a spotlight. I like a mixture of drinks and there's nothing worse than going to a new bar and choosing the same drink you have everywhere else, I like to try something different each time. So if you're looking for a new place to grab a drink take note of where am about to mention, from the Northern Quarter to Spinningfields.

First up, is Jimmy's if you're into the more indie scene of Manchester this is a great place to check out. They have a great range of cocktails, great music that you can't miss and they house a lot of gigs around the year. Some of my best gigs from the past year have been at Jimmy's and it's somewhere you really can't miss. It's a bit different to the rest on the lis…

Your Face Will Stay On Even Through Sweat - MAC Charged Water

I don't tend to buy a lot of products from MAC really. I tend to have a little browse round but never really fall in love with anything. Back in March on a trip to Nottingham I decided to look in one of their MAC's as I was after a setting spray.

Now obviously the number one choice is the Urban Decay setting sprays but I wanted something. See if there are alternatives out there and came across after speaking to one of the assistants the Mineralize charged water setting spray.

This setting spray aims to hydrate the face and with the little diamond powder flakes inside the spray this helps to energize the skin. It advises that this can be done before and after your makeup. I tend to find that my makeup sits better when I do this.

I always have high expectations for my makeup whether it is drugstore or highstreet. I normally use a mix of drugstore and high street makeup products so I expect them to last and look the same on my face. The spray doesn't take long to sink into t…

Disappointing Products - Maybelline and NYX

Every now and then I will come across a product that just doesn't work, this can be in terms of color, performance, packaging. I try to review a majority of my makeup and skincare products I own to give you my full opinion them. But these are a few products that I have kept until now and decided to share with you why they just didn't work for me.

The first one may come as a shock to some people, it's the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer. This became a fan favorite for most beauty youtubers and bloggers for quite a bit of time. I decided to try it out and ultimately see if it was really worth the hype. I only used this under my eyes as it has a brightening effect and it just seemed to cake and crack away. I used it for a whole week trying it with different primers and applying it differently each day. And not once did it look right on me. For a product that was so well hyped up I was beyond disappointed.

I recently fell in love with NYX, in particular their liquid suedes. I …

First Impressions - Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil

Benefit recently launched their new and improved brow collection. Whilst browsing through duty free and coming across their beautifully displayed stand I managed to pick up one of the products to try from their collection. The Precisely, my brow pencil in the shade Medium (4.)

The pencil comes with two ends, a spoolie on one end and the pencil at the top of the product. This pencil provides a rich smudge proof color with a custom control grip. It claims to last up to 12 hours whilst being waterproof giving you natural defined looking brows.

In terms of colors, they have 6 shades to match your eyebrows. There are more darker shades than light which seems to be pretty standard with most eyebrow pencils these days. For me I struggled a little bit as I have colored hair meaning that I wanted dark eyebrows but not so dark that it looked weird against my skin. I found that the difference between 3 and 4 were a mile apart. I bit the bullet and went for 4 as I could just use fewer product to …

My Nightime Skincare Routine

As I have mentioned previously on here before, I have trouble with my skin a lot of the time. I suffer from acne scarring that seems to be getting worse over time. As I wear a lot of makeup it's more than essential that it is all taken off at night and that I am caring for my skin the best way I can.
But in reality I don't have all the time in the world some days to pamper my skin to the nines. So I have created my skincare routine that works around my life and still keeps my skin in tip top condition.
First things first (i'm the realest) I grab my cleanser and I am currently trying a sonic cleansing brush that honestly is doing wonders but a review will be on soon and take off all my makeup and then go over again with the cleanser lightly to make sure all my makeup is off. This is probably the longest part of my routine.
After this I will put on my moisturiser, after I have applied this I normally brush my teeth to help pass the time whilst my moisturiser sinks in. After …

NYX Liquid Suedes - Are They Worth The Hype?

If you live in the Uk and have a Boots near you, it's likely that you screamed and jumped at the news they would be beginning to sell NYX Cosmetics in some of their stores. After watching videos of people raving about the products I had beyond dreamed about getting my hands on some of their products.

With liquid lipsticks becoming the new craze I decided to pick up 3 of their NYX Liquid Suedes. These are guaranteed to stay on all day and moisturise your lips. It aims to leave a matte finish and be waterproof all day.

I picked up the shades: Stone Fox, Soft Spoken,

and Amethyst. As they have all performed the same I will talk about the texture and how they hold up first and then each shade in particular. I normally wear these for work where I'm doing long shifts and don't have time to re-apply my lipstick. I would say they last a good 7/8 hours but if you are eating something that is quite heavy it will wear a little on the lipstick but for an 8 hour hold that's pretty …

Summer: How to look good

Summer is the time where it gets hotter, foundations start to get too sticky and we try to take as much of the good weather as possible.

For some of us, me included it can be quite scary the idea of walking around with minimal makeup than usual. I have a lot of acne scars that I would rather have covered. I only achieve this by foundation and concealer, so at summer it can be a struggle.

The best way to look at the summer is that it can actually be beneficial to let your skin breathe a little more. In England the majority of time it rains, as there aren't really any nutrients or vitamins being released then. When we do get those 10 minutes of sun take the opportunity.

To make myself still feel confident I tend to still do my eye makeup as normal, do they eyebrows, and apply a little bit of bronzer. But rather than just applying foundation I just dot my concealer in the areas where my face needs it most. That way my face isn't being trapped from the sun.

Body confidence is also…

June Favorites - Makeup and Skincare

June has been a very busy month, from the majority of my exams being around this month. I haven't had all the time I used to put a lot of effort into my makeup as other things take priority. However, there have been some products that I have really loved and tried for the first time through this month.

First up with skincare, my skin has gone completely upside down. From being an oily mess I have developed dry patches and severe acne which I'm gonna guess is due to stress. To help combat both of these issues I decided to try a more natural moisturizer. The Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion this can be used all over the body and the face. I normally use this for my face and hands as I tend to use a body butter for the rest of my body. Good way to use up the endless tubs of body butter I receive from Christmas. This doesn't clog up your pores or create anymore oil I was excited to try this as it is so gentle to use. You get 236ml for £8.99 (which is on offer quite often) which so…
