Bin That Foundation
You might remember months ago I went 30 days without foundation, it had a weird start and it wasn't a simple stop using and accept my skin kinda feel. It was weird and it took me a good amount of days to adjust. But once I'd adjust the idea of foundation meant nothing to me, I didn't really feel like I needed it. Since then, I've barely worn foundation since on a few nights where I've wanted more coverage it's been good. But I am living the full concealer life and I don't think I would turn back.
My skin isn't amazing, it has it's good and bad days and on the bad days, it is hard to conceal and cover. But my skin is my skin and I shouldn't feel upset or embarrassed by it, I love covering it and creating a new base for the rest of my makeup. With foundation, I always went overboard, either full coverage or no coverage. On the days when my skin really flared up, it was so hard to get a foundation to cover it without it all being too much.
I went through a phase of using everything, from primer to colour correcting to full coverage foundation to full coverage concealer, baking, the whole lot. It's nice to do sometimes and I honestly do love it, but only sometimes. I got into a habit of needing to do it every day, it was time-consuming and it became hard to accept the difference in my skin when I didn't do all of this. My makeup can be quite full on so when it's all off it can be a bit scary seeing the difference.
For the concealer game, I'm on the hunt for my staple go to's. You've got the trusty Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19 which if you haven't seen the blogging 2014 days you wouldn't have been able to pass one blog that didn't mention this concealer. It's been a winner in my eyes for years and I can never part ways with it. It has a creamy formula and stays on all day, they've improved the shade range recently so if you're into highlighting there are more shades to get that natural highlight look.
The next one which is a recently new discovery is the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer £4, this is one of the best drugstore concealers you will ever try. It's £4 and the quality is insane. The big doe foot applicator is my concealer dream, it lets me apply it where it all needs to go making sure I don't have to keep on going over with it. The wear time on this is amazing, it has a medium coverage but can be built up without going cakey. It has a matte finish to it, but it can be made dewy with a good primer underneath it. This has been my daily go-to concealer and I cannot stop using it. Also, can we talk about that shade range, they have one of the most diverse shade ranges for the drugstore. So go out and grab it now.
The one high-end concealer I've fallen for is the Stila Stay Perfecting Concealer £15, this has a real dewy look to it. It doesn't dry matte so if you want that dewy, summery, highlighted look then this is the one. It stays on all day and works great, with a medium buildable coverage it can really go far. I wouldn't recommend this as a base for eyeshadow as the dewy finish isn't the best for creating a base. Unless you set it with baking powder this will stay dewy throughout the day.
I am still on the hunt for more concealers to add to my collection, I wanna know your recommendations. Comment down below your suggestions and what's worked for you. I want something will full coverage but if there is anything that is buildable I am more than up for that.
Until next time, Chloe!
