Best Spots in Manchester for a Good Old Drink

I'm surprised I've never really covered this before, but in the past year I've ventured out a bit and gone around town looking for the best places for a drink, from cocktails to ciders there's a range of places across Manchester that deserve a bit of a spotlight. I like a mixture of drinks and there's nothing worse than going to a new bar and choosing the same drink you have everywhere else, I like to try something different each time. So if you're looking for a new place to grab a drink take note of where am about to mention, from the Northern Quarter to Spinningfields.

First up, is Jimmy's if you're into the more indie scene of Manchester this is a great place to check out. They have a great range of cocktails, great music that you can't miss and they house a lot of gigs around the year. Some of my best gigs from the past year have been at Jimmy's and it's somewhere you really can't miss. It's a bit different to the rest on the lis…

Why I'm Getting Back Into Reading

I've been taking more time to focus on me and my wellbeing, I'd become so focused on everything and I struggled so much to make time purely for me, I struggle to sit down and just focus on something without my mind racing thinking about everything I have to do. I used to read so much during college and when there was coursework, exams, and general life mounting up it was good to shift my attention to something.

But for me, I have to be deep into the book for it to really help. I love a story that grips you the whole way through, i'm a major lover of crime and drama books or any book that leaves you unexpecting what will happen next. I have a stack at home of some of my favourite books that the minute I started reading them, I couldn't put them down at all.

At the moment, I'm reading I am I am I am by Maggie O'Farrell I'm not going to give much away but each chapter focuses on her life, and the experiences she mentions really does make you put life into per…

How I'm Caring For My Body In Autumn

It's getting cold let's be serious, there's only so many nights you can spend freezing whilst going through the whole skincare routine. As great as it is to look after your skin, you don't need to look after yourself too. I'm quite bad at taking time out for me, I normally spend all day and most of the night at University and then by the time I get back it's a quick shower and skincare routine and then it's time to get into bed and spend the next 3 hours scrolling through everything. In Autumn your skin is facing different concerns, my skin gets so dry and my acne flares up so much so my routine has definitely taken a bit of a revamp for Autumn and take some time out to look after me and my body.

The main thing is my cleanser, yes I am still on the cleansing milk love train by L'Oreal but I've incorporated a hot flannel to the mix and oh my it's a right treat for my face. Especially when it's so cold outside and the last thing I want is to fe…

The Dress Up Gig Guide

It's a weird time of year for gigs, you don't want to be freezing in the queue outside but you don't want to be melting when you get inside either. Having to carry a big coat around is no fun when you're someone who likes to go into the pits and have a jump about. There's that good middle ground really, between being warm but not boiling and dressing efficient. You also have to make sure you're comfy in what you're wearing because it's a lot of standing for something you're gonna be in pain in. I thought I would go through my guide for gig fashion, how to combat the sweatty heat inside and battle the cold in that long queue.

Jackets are key here, the coats are all good and well but they don't belong at a gig unless you're lucky enough to find a place with a cloakroom in which good luck with that £3 cloakroom charge. For me I always take a jacket that keeps me warm but stops that sweaty feeling you get, the classic wrap the sleeves round the …

The Undergrad Guide To Graduating

So it's final year, a bit of pressure on you to know what you want to do. Or you could be in the first or second year and just really want to get ahead, oh how I wish I was you. It's daunting to suddenly decide what you want to do, where are you going to go? Masters or graduate scheme or do you want to take some time out for you. Either way, it's hard to find the best places to get information from, so I thought I'd give you a little guide into the main things I've been using.

First up get a notebook, sounds daft but call it your 'get your future sorted' list any careers events, post-graduate fairs and all the good stuff surrounding the future. This will help you get a timescale for things because everything starts to go soon and applications are due in usually around December. So once you get a timescale sorted you can see where your time is, nothing worse than going to apply for something to find out the applications closed 30 minutes ago (Yep that happen…

Losing Your Love For What You're Wearing

For me what I'm wearing has a big impact on how I feel, I like to take the time out to decide what I'm going to wear and it's something that gets me motivated for the day. I switch between themes and colours and what's in at the moment and for me, I just love to change things up and re-design things in different ways. But I reached a point recently where everything was getting quite stressful and I didn't enjoy putting on clothes anymore.

It's very weird for me to talk about this because I think lots of people have a similar feeling sometimes, but with everything that was going on I just didn't feel motivated to think about what I was going to wear and I lost the want to think about what I was wearing. I started just throwing on whatever and although there's nothing wrong with this, I just felt so unmotivated with what I was wearing.

For me, I hate wearing the same things all the time it drives me mad. I wear jeans for so long before I get bored and nee…

Let's Chat For A Second

So I've been a little quiet on here, it's been a busy couple of weeks and a lot has been happening behind the scenes here and it's been weird to sit down and write a blog post. I ignored everything for a little bit to get my head together and plan a few things: where I want the blog to go and also where I'm going to go after university.

University and graduating are gonna get its own separate post as oh my I could write a book about that so that will be the next post to go up. I wanna do a crash course to being a good graduate before you graduate and so far I'm loving the post so expect to see that soon! It's final year and the pressure is on and my heads been in a bit of a funk as I've had to do a lot of thinking on a load of different things.

Life has been a bit weird recently, it's been hard to get into a routine and I've felt a little all over the place. I need a routine to some extent and with deadlines, life, and changes hitting you it's h…
