What Even Is Social Media Anymore

I remember when Instagram was full of people taking photos and adding the old camera border to it (If you remember that let me know!) and since then it's changed so much, I think even at the smaller level social media in general changes so much each year and even each month. From the introduction to more features to even the layout, god helps Instagram if they try and change anything else. But the thing is with these changes to the apps and social media, comes changes to the content creators on there.

I have had my blog's Instagram for 2 years now and it's really weird to think about. I scrolled back down to my first few posts the other day and it's so interesting to see the difference. I still use my bedding as the best background and it still has a fairly casual approach to it. Whether or not you think an Instagram should be professional or casual, mine has definitely changed over the years. But with that, my attitude on the whole social media thing has changed.

I still use it mainly for enjoyment and as I'm a nosey person it's so great to see an insight into people's lives but I find at times it can feel very businessy for me. I have helped to grow my blog and 'presence' shall we call it through social media. And if I spend a lot of time and energy on a post I want to be able to share that post through social media. But with the way social media is and all the algorithms and times and everything else it's not as simple as just writing the caption and pressing send.

The current 'theme' can we even call it that

There are now social media analysts, tracking when the best time to post is to maximise success. Which if am honest is so interesting to look at, I'd love to go to a networking event and look at all the things that can influence how many likes you get. I've never paid much attention to the number of likes I get just all the analytics are interesting to look over.

But now I think to make it somewhere in this industry you need that following, and it's about starting to pay attention to the numbers and the likes and all that it comes with. I mean I would love to maximise how many people see my content don't get me wrong. I've just always had the blog be a casual thing and now that there are opportunities in the industry to take it to a higher scale it's time to step up a bit.

The OG insta posts big up the props
I definitely think social media is changing, there are more ways to share content and grow your audience and it's stemmed further than what it originally was. And I think as a blogger I myself have changed quite a lot throughout, I've developed more of a style and it's great to see where it's gone and what I've managed to do. I think for me, a lot of it is nostalgia and being able to go back and look at the photos from Budapest and Edinburgh and everywhere else I've ended up. It's great to see a change.

And I want to change this blog up a bit and in general my approach there will be a few changes here and there but I think every now and then it's good for a bit of change to come into our lives.

Let me know what you think about all the changes to social media

Until next time, Chloe!
